MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE PACKAGING FOR TABLE GRAPES

Fourie, J., Taylor, M., Vos, R. & Van Geyt, P., 2005, ‘A modified atmosphere packaging system for the maintenance of table grape quality during cold storage’, SA Fruit Journal 4(3), 24-27.

Description

The supply of good quality table grapes is expected, and demanded by the market and consumers (Eckert, 1975). The maintenance of post-harvest quality of fresh fruit is becoming increasingly important as the emphasis shifts to fresh and high quality produce (Thompson, 1998). South Africa, as an exporter and supplier of fresh fruit, is directly involved in the continuing quest for solutions to overcome the problems related to storage and transport of fruit over long distances.
